Choosing the Right Kitchen Fixtures

Your kitchen faucet gets turned on and off dozens of times a day. Your sink handles everything from washing dishes to filling pots to rinsing vegetables. These fixtures take a beating, and choosing the right ones makes a real difference in how your kitchen works day to day.

Start with the faucet. Pull-down sprayers are popular for good reason. They make it easier to rinse dishes and fill tall pots, and most of them have a toggle between stream and spray. Look for a faucet with a ceramic disc valve. They last longer and are less likely to drip than rubber washer valves. We install Moen and Kohler faucets, and both brands make solid, reliable products.

For the sink, think about how you use it. A single bowl sink gives you more room for large pots and baking sheets. A double bowl is better if you like to wash on one side and rinse or dry on the other. Undermount sinks look clean and make it easy to wipe crumbs off the counter straight into the sink. Top-mount sinks are simpler to install and replace.

Depth matters too. A deeper sink, around 9 or 10 inches, keeps water from splashing out and gives you room for bigger items. But if you're shorter, a very deep sink might be uncomfortable to use. Think about who's doing the dishes.

If you're renovating your kitchen and want to move the sink to a different location, like under a window, that involves moving the drain and supply lines. It's absolutely doable, but it's the kind of thing you want to plan before you start ripping out cabinets.

We supply and install kitchen fixtures from Kohler, Moen and Mirolin. If you're planning a kitchen update, we can help you pick the right fixtures and get them installed properly. A good installation means no leaks, good water pressure, and fixtures that work the way they should for years.
